Do you know our story?
When he first saw the prototype, commissioned to Corradino D’Ascanio, a distinguished aero-engineer, industrialist Enrico Piaggio said: “It looks like a wasp!” Or Vespa in Italian.
Vespa would very soon become a myth able to influence fashion and collective imagination since its birth in 1946.
It’s a word, or better still a concept which is absolutely international and which connects people of different languages and cultures all around the world.
It evokes youth, free time, the inimitable feeling of driving with sunshines and fresh air on you as shown by Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, riding a Vespa around the Coliseum in the 1952 film Vacanze Romane, the charming Anita Ekberg, escaping paparazzi in the famous shot from Fellini's La Dolce Vita or Nanni Moretti, riding his crooked, lovely Vespa in the first scene of Caro Diario.
In the 60s Vespa became a verb too: "vespare", which means ''going around on a Vespa scooter”: just as you are, just as you wish, for real or in your dreams.
Today there’s a place where who wants to Vespa can share his passions and it’s right here! So make your mark, join us!
